Los Angeles Lakers assistant coach Mark Madsen has been hired as the new head coach at Utah Valley, ESPN reported Sunday. Madsen, 43, replaces Mark Pope, who was hired at BYU after leading the Wolverines to a 25-10 season in 2018-19. Madsen played nine seasons in the NBA from 2000-09, winning two championships in three years with the Lakers before playing the rest of his career with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
